Software Engineer I

Sparton (SPA) is a publicly traded leading contract design and manufacturing company with a specialization in electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies. Our customers include, Military, Medical, Biotechnology and Aerospace companies that are highly regulated with specialized needs.  Basic Purpose of Position:  Performs software development tasks on specific projects. Performs coding, testing and documenting of objects, functions or components. Performs and supports systems administration tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):Writes, ports and/or maintains code for a set of prescribed objects, functions, or components.  The code produced is reliable (bug free), structured, robust in its error handling and conforms to relevant Sparton - Pittsford and project coding standards and conventions.  Coding utilizes all applicable libraries to simplify effort.Participates in code reviews of their work and in other Sparton - Pittsford development projects as    required. Makes effective use of appropriate software tools to be productive in completing assigned tasks including source code control tools.Performs testing at the unit and functional level.  Supports integration and system testing under the direction of a designated team member.  Quickly resolves any identified bugs and retests the code.Documents modules written both within the code and in supporting manuals/documents.Confers with team members to clarify the specifications of modules.  Supports the writing and review of design documents.Documents progress on work performed using a weekly status report.  Estimates work required to complete assigned task(s).  Communicates status to Technical Leader and/or Project Manager.Provides complete answers to questions asked by other team members, which may require added research and investigation.Performs tasks that support the administration of Sparton - Pittsford's computer systems.   Assigned tasks may include: build project test environment; install and make new equipment operational; investigate, evaluate and provide written analysis on new hardware and software; train Sparton - Pittsford staff on effective operation of new equipment and software; and provide first-line support to Sparton - Pittsford staff for usage issues and technical problems.Safety:  Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in computer-related field of study or equivalent work experience and practical knowledge.  Vendor certifications can be used to document practical knowledge.Industry Experience: Any experience performing software related tasks is a benefit.  Typical experience is one to two years. Three to four years is preferred for this opportunity.Technical Skills/Knowledge:Candidates with prior experience designing and developing Windows software using C, C++, C#, MFC, .NET, ODBC, and Visual Studio is desirable.  SQL Server database experience as well as medical device knowledge will be helpful.Analytical Reasoning Abilities:Reviews project requirements and design documents to develop code for assigned components.  Quickly analyzes code to resolve any identified defects.Other Skills and Abilities:Strong Organizational skills - can effectively organize and prioritize their own work.  Focus on achieving stated objectives within the specified time period.Communication skills - (verbal) can effectively present technical issues and information to their supervisor and peers in a clear and concise manner.  (written) Ability to produce written documents related to their work.  Review and editing by another source may be necessary.Interpersonal skills - possesses the ability to effectively interact with team members so as to ensure open and positive dialog.Customer Service skills - possesses the ability to assist and serve the "customer" with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, clarity and attention to detail.Projects a professional image by dressing in attire appropriate for the business environment to which he/she is exposed and by conducting one's behavior with the utmost regard for professionalism, honesty, discretion and confidentiality.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use repetitive arms, hands and finger movements to handle, feel and control various computer related tools and controls.There may be times when an employee must work with the electronic components of computer hardware such as; circuit boards, memory chips, storage drives etc.  Working with such hardware sometimes requires opening the external casing of the equipment to access the internal components.  Good manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination is important to operate the tools necessary to gain access (e.g., screw drivers, pliers).The employee regularly sits for extended periods of time, much of which is in front of a computer monitor.Specific vision abilities required by this job included; close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
