Environmental and Land Use Associate

Environmental and Land Use Associate Description:  Harris Beach seeks an associate to assist in providing counsel on land use and zoning matters, as well as to assist in providing counsel on federal, state and local environmental statutes, rules and regulations. This includes: advising private and municipal clients on zoning matters and the environmental review processesrequired to successfully obtain approvals and complete projects, counseling clients on regulatory compliance, and representing clients in administrative enforcement proceedings, Article 78 proceedings and litigation.   Responsibilities: Draft memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, etc. Forensic examinations of records and transactions underlying business disputes and investigations as to potential client claims Research various factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys about strategies Take and defend depositions Represent our clients in disputes in mediation/arbitration proceedings and/or represent them in court Represent and appear before municipal board  Qualifications: Minimum 3 years' experience in litigation Admission to NYS bar (or ability to waive in) Exceptionally strong writing skills are required Must have excellent verbal communication skills Demonstrated high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload  Demonstrated ability to absorb, process and understand new information rapidly Must be able to manage competing priorities Maintains high standards of performance  Exhibits conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline and a sense of responsibility Must have a professional, cooperative, positive and flexible attitude Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization Some travel may be required Military experience a plus Req #36

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
